About the Project
The proposed Curyo Wind Farm and Battery Project is a renewable energy development located in the Mallee region of rural Victoria, approximately 257km north of Ballarat. This project aims to generate up to 1,000 MW of clean energy through up to 162 wind turbines (subject to approval) and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), ensuring energy stability and reliability. The project is located on farmland and will contribute to Victoria’s ambitious renewable energy goals.
The local community around Curyo plays a crucial role in the region's economy, which is predominantly based on agriculture. The area is known for its broadacre cropping, including wheat, barley, and canola, as well as its commitment to sustainability. The proposed project acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land—the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia, and Jupagulk peoples, collectively known as the Wotjobaluk Nations—and is committed to respectful engagement with these communities.
